Cleaver and insightful though they were. You, unfortunately, can't
really use much of the help from the applescript sourcebook with any of
these solutions. Most of that help is based on anchors like...
<a href='help:runscript="script-to-run" string="optional parameter"'>Run a
script<a>
...which won't work in any environment other than the help browser.
Now, why would apple build a browser that can run scripts so nicely
rather than build a plug in for other browsers? Security? JAVA I say!
Precautions in the browser or in the plug in could offer excellent security
to the user. VBS virii and all that aside, I wish they had gone a little
further and made the help system more open rather than this limited,
proprietary thing.
I already have a browser.
I have looked at the applescript browser plugin v. 1.0a7. It 's cool,
even though it doesn't support the help browsers tags, but I dont detect any
active developmet. Does anyone know more?
