Hey again all - I appreciate any leads you can toss at me.

I'm new to AS, but have been doing a lot of OOP in lingo for a number of
years.

I was approached to come up with an automation of the following.

1). From some admin tool to create an EDL list, Final Cut Pro would pull in
that edit list and batch process video encoding based on file names chosen
in the admin tool/ date/ time created.

2). Once the encoding process was finished it would launch Cleaner and
created compressed versions, also saving the names to a database (ie name,
compression, what drive, etc).

Now, I know that Cleaner is fully scriptable and someone else already kindly
pointed out that FCP was not (guess because it came from Macromedia) as it
has no dictionary....and hitting record gives me nothing from FCP.

So, I'm vague about the ability to fake user input through the finder; can
it be done? Is there anything about apple's IAC that I can use, or is this
idea pretty much flawed from the start?
