I found that the result is limited to the fields on the layout and not
ALL the fields in the database. Is there was a way to return ALL the
fields in the db vs just the ones on a layout?

Bang on, David! Try 17,000+ records opened from Filemaker server. When I
reduced the found set to just 1 or 2 records, it works as you outlined.
