Hello Albert,

MacOS 9.0.4's Keyboard Control panel made function keys usable for launching files/folders/applications, but only for USB Macs.

MacOS 9.1 brought this functionality to all Macs.

I personally think this scheme is better than nothing but really too littletoo late and would always turn to a 3rd party utility.

OneClick (my fav): http://www.westcodesoft.com/oneclick/oc2/index.html

QuicKeys: http://www.cesoft.com/products/qkmac.html

KeyQuencer: http://www.binarysoft.com/kqmac/kqmac.html

There are several more, but IMO these are the best.
