I'm trying to write a helper app for files that will be present on the
internet, of my own format and extension. I have a java app that will
open one of these files, but because of the lack of ability for passign
command line arguments on the mac it reads the file location from a
special file. Therefore I need an applescript that will act as the helper
app, to be set up in ie (the easy bit).It will interpret the AppleEvent
to find the file url, write this information to a text file
(location.ini) and then tell the java app to run. This is my first
experience of applescript, and it is quite bewildering. I don't forsee
any problems with writing the location to an url or telling the java app
to run. What I actually need to do is understand how to get the
applescript to use the file location information. What would be very
useful would be to be able to write an applescript that just outputted in
some way the information that it is passed, to see how it might work as a
helper app. Any information on this subject or pointers to any relevent
source would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in anticipation of your
help on this matter. Gavin Foster.
