No it doesn't. Even just the "?subject" syntax is proprietary. It'll work in
some clients, but you can't rely on it to work with "the default mailclient".
If that's good enough for you, then feel free to use it. Just be aware that
it may fail with some mailclients - you may want to find out in which ones it
fails and try to catch the error and handle it appropriately.

Actually, it does in my mailclient (Mac Eudora 4.x). Which goes to show that
this too is an unreliable hack. (And I bet this is supported in even less
mailc lients.)
How about explaining what you're trying to achieve with this script? Perhaps
people can suggest an alternative route that is more reliable.
