Does anybody know of software that will perform the following Internet
Search tasks, or do similarly, typically for e-journal research:
1) Submit keywords to a list of Internet Search Engines/Sites.
2) Retrieve search results with links and summary text, and store on
hard disk.
3) Import and re-format this to Excel for sorting and manual keyword
search in the summary info.
4) Re-compose tailored results of step #3 as a list of URL links and
5) either after review of summary info (from Step #2 or #3), or
automatically:
start downloading the linked search results of text files (.pdf, .htm)
to hard disk (sorting out, and excluding links such as e-mail addresses,
which may also be in the search result list)
I tried composing a suite of OneClick scripts (haven't tried it in AS)
to do this, but find that the Search results are not standardized from
the various sites. For example, the toggles to next and previous
results pages are variously worded/iconized. Search Results from some
sites are loaded with garbage that makes automatic collection of the
real link results difficult. The task becomes more complicated because
no unique and standardized tags parenthesize the the desired links and
summary text for automatic recognition.
Can Sherlock2 do any/all of these?? How?
Has anyone composed scripts to do some of these? Some tricks, etc. ?
Commercial software for Mac?
Any thoughts?
Any other users-lists this project would find relevance submitting?
Thanks in advance.
