Getting VBA function result fom Word 2001

I am having problems getting a result from a Word VBA function called from
AppleScript
I am using the "do Visaul Basic" Word dictionnary method.
If I call a procedure, the procedure executes ok.
But if I call a function, I do not get the result as expexted (and
documented)
Has anybody succeeded to to do such things?
I have though of a workround : getting VBA to write my result into a
temporary file and reading the temporay file in the applescript (but I don't
like these kind of workround because they often are flacky).
