I too thought that might be it, but that issue is very rare under OS X
with its VM architecture (executables tend to get loaded into memory,
leaving the file accessible).

I am trying to use Carbon's OSA routines to sort of "roll my own" script
runner. If I can get method calls to work (see my most recent email), I
might be able to determine if this problem is specific to
/usr/bin/osascript.
