Is there a way to script opening and closing the CD tray when it doesn't

AudioCDgh OSAX will fit to your purpose.

Closing CD tray is depends on machine architecture.

The machines after B&W G3 can close CD tray by executing "eject cd"
comand twice.

--B&W G3s, G4s
eject cd --open cd tray
eject cd --close cd tray

The beige machines can not close CD tray. Also, PowerBooks and iMacs
can not close CD tray due to its mechanism.

--Beige Macs, PowerBooks, iMacs
eject cd --open cd tray
eject cd --stay open :-)
