If you turn on "OS 9.1 All", just the set that came with OS 9.1, you should
be fine. Check and see that all the extensions beginning "Microsoft" and
"MS" are on - most of them will be so as set by Apple, but enable any that
are off - and you should be OK. (You look like a good candidate for Office X
when it comes out in 2 weeks time.)
