An interesting point is that the OSX Finder doesn't seem to have
"selection" as an item, unlike OS9. That's *another* one for the
"differences". (I think Bill Cheeseman's Applescript Sourcebook could
usefully have a list of these.)

Notes from the weird: after I noted here last week how path to ":" doesn't
work in OSX, and got an email saying it was going/gone in 9, a script here
that had worked for ages without murmur on my OS9-only machine - which
hadn't been touched over the weekend - suddenly choked on

set thepath to path to ":" as alias

I hope you all understand morphic resonance now. Even machines get it,
apparently.
