Steven,

I'm unsure what you are trying to do. Are you just trying to search on a particular field within a FMPro database and then use those results within the database? If this is the case, you needn't use Applescript, rather you can use FMPro's internal scripting to do this. I can help you achieve this, just e-mail me off-list.
