One fellow I met stated that "somone he knows at apple" got the iPod to do
"all kinds of things" with applescript.
You are correct that the iPod does not play CDs. But I have MANY House and
Techno CDs where the DJ is the guy who mixes songs from different artists to
create one CD "mix" or "compilation". For these CDs, the iPod falls apart.
It does not recognize a "compilation" where the CD is released by one DJ and
features songs from many different artists. There is no way in the current
iPod sans creating custom playlists for each mix cd, to select and play a cd
of this type. It sucks for my particular music application and I would
REALLY like to add another category called "compilation" to the
song/artist/playlist section so that I can pick and listen to these
compilation CDs that I own and have mp3'd.
I also have a mini recording/DJ studio where we create 1+ hour mp3's. For
these, the iPod's fast forward and rewind features really fall short. I
want to make it so that if you hold down the scroll wheel and scroll back
and forth whila a song is selected, this will do a proportional fast
forward/rewind where the scoll (FF/RW) amount is proportional to the length
of the song.
Since this wonderful beast was just released, there is little information on
how to reprogram it and I was hoping that there was applescript access to
its functionality.
Any ideas??
