Hello Chris,
I am still new, but undaunted in learning Apple Scripting. My primary
interest lies in it's enhancement of business practices, primarily
through Word Perfect, Word, Eudora, FileMaker and Palm Desktop. In
the Palm Desktop 2.6 dictionary you have the following disclaimer:
IMPORTANT NOTE:: AppleEvents in Palm Desktop 2.6 are unchanged from
Claris Organizer. They are included in the 2.6 release "as is", and
are unsupported by Palm, Inc. We are interested in your suggestions.
Please send your comments to: email@hidden
When I read that I get a feeling that Palm does not really take Apple
Scripting seriously. I hear from your feedback to the list that this
is not so. FYI then?
I have also been dismayed that the downloaded Palm Desktop does not
contain any but the older Claris oriented scripts in it. It hasn't
been that difficult for me, a very beginner user, to search with
Google and on this and other lists to find ready made, or relatively
easily modifiable scripts, that are ready to use with at least the
minimum of modern Mac programs. As a minimum effort, I would
appreciate at least these simple scripts be put in with your
otherwise superb product. As much as I find Apple Scripting
interesting, I would much rather not have to take the time to get so
deeply into it simply because the scripts were so out of date.
What I would like in Palm (relative to Apple Scripts) would be:
A current and supported dictionary.
A script to keep all e-mails (in Eudora - others as well) from and to
each record, attached (appended really) to a note attached to that
record.
I also want to take a found set of records in palm and;
Either 1) send that set to a grouped bcc of a new message in Eudora,
taking the title and text from a specified note in the script.
Or, 2) Send that set to a FileMaker database to enter as new records.
Your pull down in Palm also lists two very old text programs, Claris
Works and MacWrite. Could this be changed to select a preferred
writing program? Or at least changed to two current text programs?
A Script that checks incoming headers for a specific header in Eudora
and if found, sets the data in a related or a new record in Palm's
Desktop.
Thanks,
Dave Groover
P.S. - The address to send feedback to Palm does not work. I just
sent the following message to Chris Page and to the Palm scripting
suggested address in PDT's dictionary): (I meant to send this
suggestion to the list)
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es)

Please do provide details if you can, otherwise I can't fix them.
