Have to repost, this didn't appear in the list but had already been posted yesterday:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I experienced a strange behaviour:
I have a script that loops through a FileMaker Pro 5 database with about 500 records. It is the data for a catalog of old cameras. The script reads field by field and then writes the data from each field in a corresponding text box in a QuarkXpress document.
Anytime a page has been finished (the current record has been transferred to the documentm completely) the script goes to the next record, adds a page to the Xpress document using "make new page at end", shows the new page "go to last spread" (The page is made out of master document 1 (A) automatically) and repeats its action as described first.
All works fine until record 255 has been reached. The machine then hangs up and freezes totally. I tested looping through all records with a separate script and it worked fine. I created 300 pages from master document 1 with a separate script, it went fine. But when i saved the document (about 61 MB) Xpress crashed after saving with an error 2 and saving did last about 30 minutes!
It's Xpress 4.11 (tried 4.1 too) and one page in the document contains 173 (!) text boxes. So i get more then 40000 text boxes having 255 pages filled with the data from the records. Quark has 128 MB allocated (uses 50%) and FileMaker Pro 5.0.3 has 195 MB allocated (30% used). The OS is US-9.1 with all updates done and the machine runs a 500 MhZ G3 having 528 MB RAM totally and a 7200rpm 30 GB IBM Ultra-ATA 100 drive connected to a Ultra-ATA 66 controller card.
Is there a limit of text boxes Quark can handle correctly???
Here's the script. Your help is wanted very much:
