Okay, I've found the thread and, uh, actually, I never did mention the link.
Oops! But a heuristic search with Sherlock for "creator codes database"
turned up this link :-)

The site offers a shareware program titled TCDB (Type/Creator Database) It
may be worth checking out, although this, by no means, is an an endorsement
for the product. Really, I've never used it.
