Hi, Chris.
This isn't a direct answer to your question, but may offer a simpler way to
do the same thing. I can't test this on 10.1, because Apple's European
Distribution Centre (a lock-up in a Dublin back-street) has, as yet, been
unable to provide me with a copy (tooth-gnashing sound fx).
In OS 9 (and I pray that the same is true in X) you can do all this directly
with AppleScript, by creating the document at the desired location (and with
the desired creator type) opening it for access and writing the contents to
it - no need to trouble the text editor at all (just close access when
you've finished, otherwise the gremlins will get you).
