One Unix way to do this would be to have a process "tailing" the FTP server
log, and spotting the logging of the (end of the) upload. There are
several things I'd tend to write that in other than AppleScript. There are
other normal Unix ways as well (some of which might have problems with HFS+
volumes, I suppose, although the difference is remarkably transparent in
Mac OS X.
