This from Hugh Dixon - dated 3/10/01 10.22 am:

You can also do this without dirtying your hands with ResEdit. Use
applescript or an appropriate utility to change the 'file type' of the FA
extension (or a copy thereof) from 'appe' to 'APPL' - then you can simply
alter the memory allocation in the 'Info' window, as you can with any
application. Change the file type back to 'appe' when you're done.
