I'm sorry, but I don't follow what you're trying to do. How about trying
state the goal, and then describe the process, without resort to any code.

Best as I can figure out, you want to present the user with a list of the
names of icons, and have the Finder select those icons. I don't know why
you want them selected or what is supposed to be done after they are
selected.
