AppleScript broken :(

Hi all

Have been experiencing a rather disturbing problem for a whole day.

Background:
OS: OS X 10.1 (5G64) with Dev Tools
OS 9.2.1 classic off another partition
Been running for a while without problems, symptoms only appeared today

AppleScript problem symptom:
1. Compiled scripts run in Script Editor no problem
2. Compiled scripts run in Script Menu no problem
3. Compiled Applications do not run at all

AppleScript problem signs:
1. Applet icon bounces for a while (2.5 seconds) and quits with error
dialog:
"The applicationn <XXX> has unexpectedly quit. The system and other
applications have not been affected."

Tried remedies with no luck:
1. Total partition erase
2. Total OS X 10.1 reinstall

Anyone experiencing this too?
