We've seen several reports of this -- it always seems to be because of
Toast. Remove /Library/QuickTime/ToastVideoCDSupport.component, and
your applets should be well again. If you don't have Toast installed or
if removing it doesn't help, then I'm very curious, and you should write
me directly for some more things to try.

<home>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.applescript, but that almost
certainly won't help you in this case.
