I've been working with the automated creation of LPR-based desktop printers
via Applescript. Apart from some quirky workarounds necessary with the
Desktop Printer Manager scripting addition, I've gotten everything working
well with Laserwriter 8. However, I can't seem to get things working with
AdobePS. Some of the printers we use require AdobePS for certain features,
such as duplexing. However, DTPs created via Applescript which use AdobePS
cause errors, including "AdobePS cannot be used because of an internal error
-8940".
AdobePS works fine when used with the Desktop Printer Utility, or through
the Chooser.
Any thoughts?
