Applet's in OS 9.2.1

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I have several applets that seem to go
catatonic and spin their cursor endlessly. When I do a Command-Period to cancel
the applet, the cursor stops spinning and the applet seems to wake up and go on
with its tasks. Any ideas what's going on here?
