As far as I know, Apple's Script Editor can not open scripts > 32ko (under
Mac OS 8 or 9, I don't know about Mac OS X version).
Others on this list will correct me if needed.

You may use another (free) script editor called Smile (developed by
http://www.satimage.fr/). This (scriptable) editor doesn't have this 32ko
limit and has many other features (for example debugging).
You can find download it from http://homepage.mac.com/satimage/
