Scripting additions and X

I'm confused...

While running 10.1, I accidentally ran a droplet that uses Leonard's SuffIt
Commands scripting addition. To my surprise, the script ran fine, and
judging by the dialog that came up, it invoked the Classic version of the
StuffIt Engine.

The script in 9.x is simple enough -- the relevant part is:

on open fileList
-- lots of stuff cut
Stuff fileList
...

If I open it in 10.1, the relevant line is:

+event SITcStuf; fileList

And sure enough, if I use that in a Classic script app, it works.

Explanation?
