Hold OFF KeyBoard and Mouse

Hi:

I desire the ability to hold off both Key entry and mouse clicks during
a script action... It would be great to ether change the cursor to a clock
or throw a dialog "PLEASE STANDBY" type thing until the applescript is
complete. Any suggestions?
