Are yuns (<-- pittsburghese) saying that is the normal behaviour when
compiling new scripts from Script Editor? I've always thought that as
long
as you were using the exact name of the application, a script would
compile
via check syntax (not run) whether the app was running or not...that
Script Editor knows where to find it.
Script Editor *might* know where to find it. Actually, it asks the
desktop database if it knows anything about that application name. This
often works, but if you've got multiple versions of the application, or
if the database has just gotten confused (which happens sometimes),
AppleScript may fall back on asking you where it is. If this is
happening to you more often than you'd like, a good thing to try is
rebuilding your desktop file -- hold down command and option when the
Finder starts up.
