menu jumps to spanish???

When ever i open the script editor by double clicking on my script, apple
script starts with everything in spanish.
if i open the script editor by double clicking on the application icon then
file/open my script everything is fine.
what have i played with to make this happen.???
this isn't the only wierd thing as i lose all my text/script formatting and
get it back again under the same conditions???
anybody got any ideas???
