Here is my impression as a novice creator of AppleScripts:
1) Absolutely NO comperhensive documentation from Apple for authoring
scripts
2) Non-Apple books on scripting are good but very old (and dated)
3) Developers who script their apps don't document the scripting interface
4) Scripting language is too "free-form" making it way to complex
5) There is no clear-cut way of interpreting a dictionary and turning that
into
AppleScript commands
6) Mac Users have never really embraced the concept of a "Command Line
Interface".
They are pre-conditioned to a "Point & Click" model

There are probably some other things but that should give you a bit to "chew
on".
