Srcipts in Start Up Folder

I have had a mixed bag of success with scripts in the Start Up folder. I have been unable to obtain a fail safe method of first ensuring the scripts operate and secondly that they work in the desired order. I have used a variety of naming systems for the scripts. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on this. Thanks for your time.
