Tell App "Finder"
doEvent Bomb(-1)
End Tell
Just joking. More seriously though, there are other aspects that may be
causing the machines to bomb. The obvious ones are system-level preference
file corruptions (such as the "Finder Preferences") or collateral damage
induced by a corrupt file that's being passed around. Also, if any of the
machines was recently updated from OS 9.x to OS 9.2.2, a new version of
AppleScript was installed with that update, and the changes in that version
could cause the scripts to bomb. Also, Quark recently released Quark XPress
version 5 and Adobe released (is about to release) Photoshop v7. If either of
these are upgraded, the scripts that address the applications may crash due
to changes in their scripting terms.
As a consultant, I tend to lean towards the corruption concept, seeing it
often enough in day-to-day client visits. I would recommend trashing the
preference and invisible files that you know you can trash without damage
(finder preferences, Apple Menu Option Preferences, etc -- careful, not all
preferences can be trashed safely), deleting the desktop database using a
utility (TechTool) & restarting, then running Norton Disk Doctor on the
drives with the preferences set to read/write/verify media 3 times. If Norton
finds any problems, fix them (if possible) and then rerun it until it finds
nothing. Or hiring a consultant to handle such maintenance issues.
Best Wishes

PS - OWC has a special on Norton SystemWorks (containing Norton Antivirus and
Norton Utilities) plus Retrospect Desktop for something like $20,
shrinkwrapped. If you don't own a copy, it's a good time to buy one for each
machine.
