Dear Rajesh,
AppleScript is more like Visual Basic for Applications than it is like
full compiler environments that create standalone .exe files for DOS/Windows.
If you are interested in creating full-strength Macintosh applications, you
should look at an integrated development environment or a rapid prototyping
development environment, such as FutureBasic for the Mac or MetroWorks Code
Warrior. What AppleScript does by comparison, is allow you to create small
applets (mini-programs) very quickly and easily, and interact with existing
programs (by triggering commands and getting at data that those programs
access).
You can find out more about AppleScript at:
http://www.apple.com/applescript/
You can find out more about MetroWorks Code Warrior at:
http://www.metroworks.com/
You can find out more about FutureBasic for the Mac at:
http://www.stazsoftware.com/
You can find out about learning to become a Macintosh programmer at:
http://www.apple.com/developer/
I hope that answers your beginner's questions.
Welcome to the Macintosh community :)

PS - if you were a windows die-hard thinking about writing
Macintosh-compatible viruses, I'll pose a very simple question: is it worth a
couple years of your life to learn to program software on the Macintosh at
that level just to write a virus?
