Ummm. I purchased a single-user license of iView Media Pro via download
from their site for US$50.
http://www.iview-multimedia.com/orders/index.html
At that price, it really does feel like they are giving it away. I am
currently in the midst of installing/implementing an industrial-scale
archiving solution for a major newspaper in Canada. We have been all over
IPTC and what to keep/throw away/invent in archives in general for several
months now, and I can honestly say that iView media Pro's capabilities quite
blew me away. A great program. Can't speak to its scriptability yet. Just
had it for a couple of weeks or so.
FWIW,
Timothy

That's all I have found also. You may already know the following, but

If it's on a limited number of workstations, that isn't so bad.

What I'm working on is a web-accessed database (using php and MySQL) of

It looks like I will be breaking this down into three sections:

1. Using AppleScript and Graphic Converter to prepare the images. This

information, and then moving files to appropriate location on web server.

2. Using PHP to extract the IPTC information from the images and populate

3. Using a CRON job to dump the structure and data regularly to backup.

Now I've heard one may be able to turn a php solution into a shell script,
