Hmm, I thought the original poster was asking whether there was a way to _build_ a GUI using AppleScript? I would have a use for this, if it is possible. In other words, is there a tool that let's you send AppleScript commands that open a new window, draw widgets on it, activate it, and allow a user to then interact with it? All of this on the fly?

Afaik, you can create widgets on the fly with AS Studio and move them.
At least, in Obj-C Cocoa you can, and interface wise AS Cocoa can do just about anything Obj-C Cocoa
