Even more newbie queries: aliases

  • Subject: Even more newbie queries: aliases

Hi all,

Sorry for all these questions, but I can't find the answers anywhere else...
feel free to refer me to documentation (maybe then I can find these answers
myself).

What is the difference between the following:

set myVar to "path:to:something" as alias

set myVar to alias "path:to:something"

Don't they both make myVar into an alias to "path:to:something"? Even though
the file exists, the first one fails OMM, while the second one doesn't. Can
anyone explain what's going on here? To me it seems like both statements are
the same -- they only do things in a different order.

Thanks again, and sorry to bother everyone :)
