convert string to a list

  • Subject: convert string to a list

Don't know if this can be done. I want to take a string and read it one character at a time. Do I have to first write it out to a file and then read it back in or is there a way to convert it?

For example:
I want to take "The quick brown fox" and be able to check each character "T" "h" "e" " " "q" "u"...

Thanks,

Mark :-)
