Application "System Events"??? That's a new one for me. Is this a

OSX thing? I don't remember it from my brief OSX experience.
Yes, but it's not obvious. You have to be glancing idly at the 'choose
applications' list with the "Open Dictionary ...Browse" in your favorite
script editor, and let curiosity get the better of you. There may have been
a very brief moment in OS 10.1.0 or thereabouts when that was the only way
to get 'process' , I forget now. You couldn't get 'process' at all in
10.0.x. But the Finder is the officially-approved method. 'process' _is_ in
the "Legacy Suite" in OS 10.1.x, but "Legacy" doesn't mean "deprecated". It
apparently means "The Finder doesn't actually do it any more, but it will
continue to be in the Finder dictionary for evermore." We've been told by
the Chrises that "System Events" may not always be the application which
will handle these things (who knows - maybe they're planning OS XX right
now?) but the Finder will always pass it on. "System Events" isn't too
exciting - it just has quit, count, exists, process, application process
and desk accessory process.
