Um, not as far as I know. You can get utilities that do this, probably the
most venerable and well-known being 'File Buddy', which is available for
OSes 7 thru X and does a whole lot more.

If you're still pre-OS X, there's a very neat solution available in Alsoft's
'Change Visibility' contextual menu plugin. It would be handy something like
this in X.

But what I'd really like to see is an AppleScript that will make unweildy
corporate sigs and disclaimers invisible. I didn't quote yours in full out
of consideration for other list users. ;-)
