Tex,

Script QuicKeys to interface with the dialog box, and then
trigger the QuicKeys script from AppleScript at the point
the dialog box for the PDF conversion settings comes up...
As for the persistant reference, empty the trash can, or
reassign the reference in the script to either (a) the new
jpg file, or (b) nothing ("").
