Using something like the following in an Applescript:

on run
open location "smb://mygroup;me:mypassword@myserver/thevolume"
end run

I'm getting an "-10814" error

Have you set up a helper for 'smb' in your Internet Config preferences?

I tried

open location "x-eudora-setting:1"

and got an error -666 until I had saved the helper pref in IC and then things worked perfectly. I wish things were so simple in OS-X -- or maybe they are and I haven't discovered the trick yet.

I'm afraid I have no idea what smb means, so this might not be the answer.
