Bob,

That works to make a folder invisible but since the finder can't see an invisible folder, you can't undo it.

I'm lost. What do you want to accomplish with setting a file or folder invisible? Invisible to whom if not the Finder? I naturally assumed that you wanted the file to be invisible in the Finder. If so, then renaming it to ".something" will do just that. As to undoing it, you can rename the ".something" file back to "something" via script control. I really don't understand what you want. Please clarify.
