Right, because as it stands now, Mail is pretty well pooched for automation.
The idea with servers of any kind is that they should sit in the corner and
not need daily checking. That's what SNMP and network monitoring is for. But
with Mail, you have to do this, because if the app quits, or the machine has
to reboot, you can't just log it in and be done with it, you have to wait
for mail to start and the script to run, so you can dismiss the dialog.
Maybe Mail shouldn't be used on a server. <shrug>
I've lost track of what it was that started this thread. Would a
(scriptable) mail server be more appropriate for whatever it is that
you're trying to accomplish?
