Update was (at least at one time) still problematic for things on the
desktop. That's part of the reason the code I just posted into another
thread uses Finder commands to set the creator and type...Finder actually
notices the change that way.

I used the same pattern for BBEdit files...the droplet shipped with BBEdit
(at one time) didn't cause Finder to notice the change if the file was on
the desktop (their droplet used the toolbox call which underlies tell
Finder to update ... ). The droplet from BareBones was much faster than
the script droplet, of course.
