Exchanging events between OS 9 and OS X machines

Another of my interests is Home Automation, specifically a Mac program called XTension (www.shed.com) that manages X-10 powerline-controlled modules and lots of other stuff. XTension is heavily dependent on AppleScript.

One of the program's great benefits is that it can run on almost any old low-end Mac, which you can stick in a closet and talk to via Apple Events.

This is a long prelude to the complaint that scripted events don't work between OS X machines and older ones. This functionality has been totally broken since OS X came out and is apparently not even fixed in Jaguar.

Paranoid that I am, I'm thinking that Apple has no intention of ever making this work because they want us all to scrap our old hardware and buy new OS X machines.

Does anyone on this list have any insight I could share with my HA buddies? Thanx in advance.
