The latter. Word Mac doesn't display Unicode, believe it or not, although it

I believe it! That's why I've never bought Office for Mac and have always used Nisus for Wordprocessing, which was better in 1985 than Word is today.

I can fish Arial Unicode out of an MS Office Windows install
in Virtual PC, and bring it over to the Mac side.

That's what I did. And all TTF fonts including aruni.ttf will work also in OS 9 and Classic if you change the file type to "sfnt" and the creator type to "movr". I have my Greek keyboard working in all three with all the same fonts -- in fact until an hour ago (I've just installed jag-wire) WorldText was a better application than TextEdit for Unicode stuff. I haven't had a proper look at the new TextEdit yet.

It will display in
TextEdit. I can even paste into Word, save as RTF, and it would show up fine
if I moved the doc over to Word Windows. Come to think of it, Arial Unicode
will show up fine in Entourage too. Pretty sorry - Word Mac is far behind.
Maybe next release...

It's strange how Microsoft has always hung back with multilingual stuff in the Mac versions when they have been miles ahead for years in Windows. Are you saying that Entourage for Mac can display Unicode and that you can enter Unicode characters in a message window? If so, we must do a few experiments.

Back to jag-wire. It's looking good already. And the greatest thing I've discovered so far is that it looks as if I can stuff Sherlock at last for good and all and never see its ugly face again :-)
