You could make a droplet to open your Photoshop template, then change the
contents of the text-object of the relevant art layer (or create the layer
at the same time).

No need for XML. Just get the text from FileMaker ("set x to cell "Name" of
record z") and put it in your Photoshop template ("set contents of text-item
of art layer y to x"). The rest is opening, saving and looping.
