Thanks, Chris. So, to get the language of the system,
"__CF_USER_TEXT_ENCODING" or "LANG", which one is more suitable?

system attribute "LANG"
-- "en"

By the way, can we set the language / text encoding by applescript?

PS : [OT] In the input menu of international preference panel, some keyboard
layout9s input menu are Roman, some Central European, while some exotic ones
are Unicode, what does it mean?
