I've just begun working with AppleScript, so maybe this is a silly
question. If so, please reply privately by e-mail. I have spent a
couple hours looking on the forums, support pages, and newsgroups, with
nothing.
I am using a G4 iMac 800, running OS 10.2. I have written my first
script -- to open the daily New York Times crossword -- and, as
advertised, AppleScript is damn easy! (I can live with its leaving a
stray Explorer window open, but if there's a way to suppress that, I'm
all ears. Script is at
http://homepage.mac.com/dongoldberg/puzzle4.txt.)
What I really want to do is to have this script run on its own each
night, so the crossword is waiting for me. I saw that Entourage X
(10.1.0) allows scheduled running of scripts, so I gave it a try. I
saved the script (as compiled script) in Entourage's script drop box,
but it did not run from Entourage. I got Error -192
Wondering if there was something missing from my script, I tried
running one of the Example scripts, like Current Date and Time. This
time, the error is "The end of file has been reached."
Finally, I tried one of scripts distributed with Entourage, which work
fine as they are. Then I copied one to a new script file and saved it
(as compiled script) and again I get the "end of file" message.
Is there something going on with Entourage and the version of
AppleScript (1.9) included with Jaguar, or is this a newbie's folly?
Thanks for all help.
